Baby Boomers and Dog Tags
I am a baby boomer from Florida,
my friends and I wore dog tags in the first grade.
That was due to the Cuban Missal Crisis.
Many of my friends are still traumatized by plaid
blankets, we were told would help keep us safe.
I am a baby boomer and many of my friends again
wore dog tags right after our senior year in high school.
That was due to the Vietnam War.
I am a baby boomer and in 1990
my beloved husband also wore dog tags.
That was due to Operation Desert Shield.
I am a baby boomer and in 1994 my oldest
son n law was next to wear his dog tags.
That was the Second Persian Gulf or Iraq War.
I am a baby boomer and in 2011 my youngest son n law
also started wearing his dog tags and currently still does.
That is due to the current War on Terror.
I am a baby boomer very thankful to have my oldest son n law
recently retired and no longer needing his dog tags after 22 years.
I am a baby boomer that comprehends that a dog tag is
primarily used for the identification of our military wounded
and for those that lose their life serving their country.I am a baby boomer that understands that a dog tag represents
"comfort" to many loved ones waiting at home for their loved ones.
A dog tag is a promise that no matter what happens in this life,
we can identify our brave and courageous no matter what happens.
