Getting by With Help From My Friends

Getting by With Help From Friends

They took me under their wings and taught me how to
once again try not to merely exist but to actually live.
They gave me unselfishly their time and patience so I
could once again reach people "in need."
They taught me the true meaning of friendship indeed.
They somehow realized I could only get by with a little help
from my friends.
They took a feeble friend and helped teach her how to once
again fit in.
They took what someone, most would consider too much trouble and
taught her she was worthy of their time to spend.
They took a Tampa native and made sure the sun and fun
she could experience once again.
They took a brain injury survivor and taught her memory
was not needed as long as she could ask a friend.
They took her to visit her brother and mother to experience
quality time that was finally "seizure free."
This was the greatest gift she could ever share with her
cancer survivor mother by the name of "Vee."
They took her to meet old friends that she had forgotten
she had ever had.
Each and every old friend seemed sincerely inspired and also glad.
Thank you is sometimes much to inadequate to possibly explain.
So I salute you Deborah and Cecile from a friend forever indebted.
Thanks for your generosity, guidance and kindness as you taught
me I did not have to be any longer lame.

Thanks to my very special disabled friends that taught me my
life had just been on "hold" and they taught me how to once more begin.
